FAQ's

I have lost all of my teeth can you help?

Losing all of your teeth is often a byproduct of gum disease and there are so many people like you out there struggling with full dentures which are sore and move. At the English Dental Practice we can use dental implants in a number of ways to help you. We can stabilise a denture so it doesn't move or give you fixed teeth like you used to have.

What if my bone has gone in the area, can you do anything?

If you have been without teeth for a long while or wearing dentures for many years the bone may have been lost in the area. At the English Dental Practice we can often use cutting edge techniques to put this bone back for implant placement.

I am nervous of dental treatment and implants sound quite involved,
what can you do?

Dental Implant treatment is generally a lot less stressful than taking teeth out. Most people can have it done under local anesthetic alone, just numbing up the region like a filling. We often recommend that you have a "happy pill" which is a mild sedative if you are nervous of the procedure in any way. If you are quite anxious about any treatment we can also bring in our qualified anaethetist to carry out a deeper sedation.

How long will it take?

Dental implants typically take about 20 minutes per implant to place. When you come in to the practice we will go through the exact process, but in simple cases you can be in and out in less than an hour.

Is it painful?

At the English Dental Practice we pride ourselves with our pain free local anashetic techniques. Once you are numb the whole procedure is pain free. We will often put long acting local anesthetic in at the end of the appointment to give you comfort after. You may have a little swelling but most people are surprised at the total absence of discomfort after having a dental implant.
